My Story
I was first introduced to Reiki in 2015 after a major abdominal surgery. I was in a lot of pain, but I was afraid to take the heavy-duty pain drugs they were offering me. I was petrified of becoming addicted. The nurses offered to have a Reiki practitioner visit me during my stay to help ease the pain and speed my healing. I wasn't sure what Reiki was, but I was more than willing to take the chance.
The first practitioner that visited me during my stay explained that Reiki is simply the transfer of Universal Life Force Energy to me through her hands. There would be no touch involved, and all I had to do was lie back and relax. By the end of that treatment, my pain had lessened, and I was able to ask for a reduction in the dose of the pain medication I was on. I was visited a total of four times during my stay, and by the time I went home, I was only taking Tylenol for the pain. My healing was faster than anticipated, and I was back to my normal life in half the time that it was expected to take.
Ever since then, I have been on a mission to bring Reiki to as many people as I can. I was attuned in 2019, and my life has become so much better since then. I now know peace... I have healed from emotional scars, and I have experienced improved health. I have become a better person. I want to bring this gift to everyone who is willing to receive it.
I hold certifications in the following healing modalities:
-
Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki III
-
Reiki Master/Teacher
-
Sound Healing
-
Chakra Healing
-
Crystal Reiki
-
Hospice and End of Life Care Reiki
Lineage
My lineage goes back only three generations to Mrs Hawayo Takata herself, the late grand master who brought Reiki to the United States in 1973. I was taught Reiki One and Two by Libby Barnett, who was taught by two teachers, John Harvey Gray and Judy Carol Stewart. John Harvey Gray was taught by Mrs Takata as one of the original 22 taught by her when she came to the United States. Judy Carol Stewart was taught by Barbara Lincoln McCollough, who was taught by Mrs Takata, and was also one of the original 22. I was trained as a Reiki Master by Karen Cerrato, who was also taught by Libby Barnett, and shares the same lineage.
My Approach
In keeping with the gentle nature of Reiki, my approach is equally gentle. You may choose hands-on or hands-off sessions, whichever you are most comfortable with. Hands-on is a very light laying on of hands on different parts of your body. Hands-off is a hovering of the hands over different parts of your body, and touch is not involved. You may change your mind at any time during your session, as it is your session, and you decide what you are comfortable with.
I tend to focus more on the emotional than the physical during a session. I have found that healing of the emotions and of the spirit often lead to healing of the body. Focusing on reducing stress and anxiety can have a ripple effect of positivity on the body. That being said, there is absolutely room for addressing physical ailments with Reiki. Injuries, recovery from surgery, and other physical issues can benefit from the deep relaxation that Reiki brings. A relaxed body and mind provide an environment that is more conducive to healing.
Reiki itself does not interfere with any medication, there are no contraindications for any physical ailment, and it does not interfere with any known medical treatment. It is uniquely safe for people of all ages, including infants and the elderly. Reiki is now being offered in hospitals around the world, and is even used in hospice to help comfort and ease the transition for the patient.
